Flore (Vignet-)Sivell

After studying Marketing in Lyon, I went to London in 1990 and lived there until 2001. I found myself drawn to the world of art and craft. I exhibited paintings in London. I had been drawing and painting since a very young age.
I worked from 1992 to 1997 as a PA for two Architectural practices in London, which deepened my knowledge of Design and Architecture. I then decided to take a course in Glass & Architecture at Central St Martins College of Art & Design for 3 years, which launched me as a stained glass artist. I completed several commissions in England and France, and I exhibited glass work in the Cochrane Gallery, London. My glass work is mentioned in the book "Glass at Central", see below for details.
I returned to France in 2001, I settled in the South of France and worked for a British Architect. I wanted to continue glass but I found the opportunities in France pretty limited. I decided to switch to the textile field, and discovered the handtufting method for making rugs, which really fascinated me. I spent some time with some tufters in England to learn the technique and finally set up my own business 'Rectangle d'Or' in Bedoin, at the foot of the Mont Ventoux (Vaucluse).
I am now creating my own rugs, and developping my own designs. This craft enables me to work with colour, light, texture, all integral to interior design/Architecture. As you can see from my gallery of work so far, I enjoy pushing the limits of the handtufting technique and developping new ideas out of the ordinary! I hope you will like my work.
I am now in the Finistère, I have moved to Brittany in August 2024, and you can visit me anytime in my workshop located at the Ateliers de Jean Mouin in Plouhinec (29).
Also I'll soon be able to offer some training in handtufing, do not hesitate to contact me for further information.
A bientôt. Flore
